Although it may look like other tubing cutters, it has a unique patented cutting wheel with a shoulder that prevents it from cutting completely through the conduit wall.

You begin using the 8600 just like other tubing cutters by alternately tightening the cutter wheel and turning the cutter around the conduit, but when the cut is deep enough to reach the shoulder on the cutter wheel, you remove the cutter and then simply snap the conduit into two pieces. Because the cutter wheel didn't penetrate the conduit wall, no burr is created.
